Picture Orientation Help

I'm letting people know the issue and how to resolve it. And it is a fact that if the Life of Website members skipped the picture, it would get rotated upon approval.

Here, I am letting you and SLS know what the issue is and how to resolve it: it is NOT a "compatibility issue between our site software and some devices", but rather the "site software" is deficient in that it does not correctly uses the embedded meta information in the uploaded pictures (as spelled out in apple thread you referenced). Update, or replace, the software that handles the uploaded pictures and it is a fact that the pictures will appear correctly, without any members or support staff having to intervene.

But it's not just Apple. Samsung Note 20 Ultra, pic uploaded sideways. I realized it, deleted that one, cropped it a bit and it uploaded fine.

Here is a response from Apple on this issue. The problem is solved by rotating your phone into landscape mode when you take pictures. Apple blames it on Windows, but as a Windows user, I blame it on Apple.

The OP of this thread sent me the pictures and I got them posted correctly for them. To them: Thank you for working with me and I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Way to pass the buck Wayne. Your software sucks but blame the members for it.

I got in trouble a while back when I encouraged members to stop providing you free labor and stop approving pictures. As you removed features and usability I thought it was unfair to expect us to use our free time doing your job. Now you are complaining about the quality of work you are getting for free?

Thank your members and hire someone competent to fix this site.

Exactly.. never had the issue before for years... so change it back on compatibility with your developer!

Wayne its an excuse on SLS end.. other sites do not have this issue.

We now see dozens of profiles on SLS with sideways photos sad for your website!

The main problem is that the Life of Website members are not skipping them.

No, that is not the main problem.

It is a compatibility issue between our site software and some devices (mainly cell phones). If the Life of Website members do their job properly, they skip these pictures and then a staff member wil rotate it correctly and it will post correctly. The main problem is that the Life of Website members are not skipping them. If you email the pictures to: pictures@swinglifestyle.com along with your profile name and the type of picture (public, private, or personal) and I can upload them for you with 100% certainty that they will be correctly posted.

One more response:

Yes, this is because they made updates. Unless they adjust those, the only way I can help you is for you to email me the pictures and I will rotate them correctly for you. Please email the pictures to: address deleted ref will not allow me to post email adress.. with your profile name and the type of picture (public, private, or personal) and I can upload them for you. The issue with you not being able to respond to tickets is an issue on your end. Can you send me a screenshot of that?

We have taken photos same way since we have been on and never ever an issue prior!

One of several responses to us:

This usually happens when you take the picture on a phone and have the phone rotated. If possible, load the picture into a computer and bring it up in a picture editor and make sure it is rotated correctly and then do a "Save As" to save it to a new file. Uploading that new file should work. If you do not have that ability, please attach the picture to this ticket and I can upload it correctly for you.

LOL this will be good.. we have had same issues since the UPGRADES..

Developer are aware but do nothing.. They want you to save in a certain file, rotate same, load etc etc... amazing we are on other sites and have no issues upgrades and all from photos on our Iphone..and have NOT had issues until this last year.. we place photos monthly on our profile.. now not at all !

Seriously.. good luck..

Does anyone have a fix for picture being uploaded upside down, sideways, etc. despite the original being correct and at random no less?

I’ve got landscapes and vertical pictures that are all randomly flipped and no matter hoe many times I try to load it, it keeps happening.

Any ideas?

And yes, I did create a ticket event for it.
