Growing up as a Notre Dame fan, Holtz's book, "The Fighting Spirit" was one of the first books I ever read because I wanted to. I think I was around 11 years old then.
Louis Leo “Lou” Holtz, legendary college football coach, Hall of Famer, bestselling author, and one of America’s most influential motivational voices, has passed away at the age of 89 in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by family.
Neil Sedaka, the singer-songwriter behind Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, Oh! Carol, Calendar Girl and Bad Blood as well as many hits performed by other artists including Stupid Cupid and Love Will Keep Us Together, has died aged 86.
Bill Mazeroski, who in 1960 hit one of the most famous home runs in World Series history to deliver a championship win for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 9th inning of Game 7, has died at 89.
Actor Eric Dane from Grey's Anatomy, dies at 53 of ALS.
Jesus... Five celebrities have died in eight days. It was ten years ago in 2016 that a crapload of celebrities died that year. Are we going to have a repeat of that this year?!?!
Yesterday I read an article about Duvall and his wife with lots of photos of their home. Absolutely beautiful place. One of the really neat features was the barn, which he had converted into a dance studio. Duvall was a rabid fan of the tango. The studio wasn't just for the two of them, but they would also host tango parties there with fellow tango fans.
He is someone I truly wanted to meet and just have a sit down conversation with. Any person that puts themselves in the line of fire for the justice of all things negative, has balls, grit, integrity, empathy and compassion.
Rest in peace sir, knowing that there are others in the wings that are carrying Dr. King's and your torch.
Have you ever seen The Hustle with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson? It's a remake of it with female perpetrators. It is extremely close - shot-for-shot at times, but with some differences that keep it interesting, but a wildly different ending that is worth the investment. Anna Hathaway screaming on an airport runway giving middle fingers to a departing plane was hysterical.
What I didn't learn until watching The Hustle is that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is also a remake of a 1964 movie "Bedtime Story" with Marlon Brando as the clod and David Niven as the gentleman, set in post-WW2 occupied Germany.
There is a scene where Brando has the mark convinced he is some sort of religious messenger, but really he just wants in her pants. She wants to introduce him to her father and says "he's going to want you to do to him everything you want to do to me".
