I've had mone analyzed several times. Always the same: calcium oxalate stones.
My weakness is chocolate and nuts. I'm also on a high protein diet, which doesn't help.

I turned all of my stones in to the lab for analysis. I'm sure the report gave the weight and size, but I don't remember what they were.
All I know is that I felt those little bastards moving through every millimeter of my urethra.
Thank God for Percocet.
“ Did you weigh the stone, too?”
I have a scale that is really sensitive. Found it on a walk in the neighborhood. I think some drug dealer tossed it out of their car. Might try weighing it.
At least for myself, I know when my sodium intake is too low. I get headaches and my blood pressure drops below statistical standard of 120/80.
I lived a life in pre-hypertension for almost 20 years. My doctors fully monitored me and there was no cause for action on their part. My body temperature was always 98.7 degrees, not 98.6 degrees and blood/urinalysis was always clean. But, because of that lifestyle for almost 20 years straight, now that I am statistically normal for health, my body balks when I try to be really healthy. So, I just do what is necessary to keep myself statistically normal and a touch above that is unhealthy, for myself to be 100% healthy.
Not everyone's body works the same. That is why there is not a one-size-fits-all exercise/nutrition program. If you want to become healthy, you have to find what works for your body.
When I was in hospital with my heart attack 7 years ago the doctor that was in the ER later told me to really avoid salt which I did for quite a while which was very easy for me to do since I haven't had salt in my house in 25 years. Only really get it now when I eat bread or some restaurant food which is kinda rare for us these days. I ended up almost getting too dehydrated cause of it one summer. My BP was dropping significantly cause of it according to my cardiologist. Was a bit scary tbh
Low sodium is no joke. I wound up in the emergency room a couple of times because of that.
funfor - "Be careful dinking over 100oz a day . That can lower your sodium and cause other problems."
Perhaps that's why a crave salt so much. I don't think I need to worry about enough sodium in my diet. If I'm snacking, I'll almost always reach for salty vs sweet.
A serious, but funny question...
Did you weigh the stone, too? The heavier it is, the more mineral is actually within the stone.
I’m okay with the lithotripsy as long as I don’t have to have a stent. The stent hurts worse than the stone. Eek.
The ER measured this one on the CT as 5mm, but I measured the actual stone, and it was 6.5 or 7mm. Probably the biggest I’ve ever passed naturally.
I get stones often. Have a 2mm sitting pretty in my left kidney now. Had the basket surgery for an 8mm stone that was stuck and would rather never ever do that again. Passing naturally sucks but is way better. I watch my oxalate intake and add lemon to just about everything I drink.
Be careful dinking over 100oz a day . That can lower your sodium and cause other problems.
Mayhem, a lot of it is diet and water intake, but genetics play a part too. My dad, my brother and several of my paternal uncles have had them.
Good news! I passed the stone!
It was a whopper. The biggest one I’ve ever passed at home. 5mm and looks like a microscopic version of those crystal clusters the crunchy granola girls use for balancing their chakras. I felt the damned thing go through my prostate. Ay-yi-yi. Feeling better now.
I have gall stones but no issues with kidney stones, yet. I drink herbal and regular decaf tea most of the day, to the tune of about 60 Oz's or more daily. Usually all of that tea is without cream or milk.
Not sure if the tea helps, but I must either be lucky or doing something right to go this long without ever having one. There are some days I'm closer to 100 Oz's of tea, and that doesn't include water or other liquids that I drink during the day
I've delivered 3 stones, and I'm with MSMOLLY. Zero stars.
Drinking lots and lots of liquids on a daily basis, (which makes me pee almost once an hour), along with watching my calcium intake, ( being that mine were all calcium derived ), seems to have done the trick for the last few years.
Fingers crossed
"I’ve passed enough stones to pave a driveway."
I have a gravel driveway about 100 yards long that could use some improvement.
Do you deliver?
I've had kidney stone basketing instead of the opportunity to pass it naturally (there might not have been a kidney stone). Zero stars, especially the part where I had to pull out the stent at home because they forgot to do it at the surgical center.
Anyway, Liquid IV is the most effective electrolyte mix I've found. LMNT is the crunchy granola version, but it doesn't work as well for me. I drink a lot of water but have found that electrolytes are essential to keep dehydration symptoms to a minimum.
I've had it once, it is not fun.
Water is good to try to flush the stone. But, you'll deplete all of the other minerals in the body on water alone. Add low calorie sports drinks, along with the water. You are "parched" because you've depleted the other minerals in the body because of drinking so much water. Stay away from coffee and soda. Weakened tea with minimal sugar is good.
The main thing is, replenish the electrolytes and minerals that have been lost. It will take time and there is no miracle cure. Get the proper fluids and rest. Ultrasound pulverization or mechanical surgery are last resorts.
Good luck!
Trying to pass a kidney stone. It sucks, and not in a good way!
The nurse at the ER last night asked me if I’d ever passed a kidney stone before. I told her I’ve passed enough stones to pave a driveway. LOL. Anyone else do calculus on a regular basis? For me it’s been every few years starting at 21. But this year, I’ve passed three. Maybe because we’ve been in a drought. I’m drinking lots of water, but wake up every morning parched.
