Happy independence day everyone. May we all be independent from big brother bog government telling us how to live our lives Happy 4ht of July and freedom to everyone!!
Happy July 4th, 2018.
"Who the hell put the 4th of July in the middle of the week?"
What, NCal has not yet blamed it on the Democrats.....LOL.
Staying home, a little grilling, chilling...have a new rescue puppy, name is Lincoln. He is still getting accustomed to his new home and we don't want him home alone with all the fireworks and such. He is a real beauty...mini schnauzer...don't know why anyone would want to give him up. Only about 5 years old. Those eyes...I am in love.
i will be going to a parade right outside of the city (begun in 1904, and now among America's oldest, consecutively run July 4 parades) with my dil and youngest granddaughter, and some friends and their family. hubby and son are working on the 4th. our friends live near the parade route, so we can walk from their house, and then most likely bbq after. we will probably skip the fireworks. not sure if granddaughter is ready for them yet
In N Cal we used to have hot air balloons float over town. Scared the shit our of all the animals. Dogs running though screen doors into the house horses bolting through fences, even had some cattle running down main street when Ukiah was still a small town and main street was the only street with lights.
People tried to sue, but it was not until people starting shooting at the hot air balloons did it stop. Not to hit the balloon but to scare the tourists.
Actually it wasn't that bad. She was agile enough to clear the window without scratching the paint and somehow got behind the seat to hide. No damage done.
I should have known better- she was afraid of thunder and lightning. We were camping and I didn't want to leave her alone at the campground.
I'm sorry about your truck. And your dog. That must have been really bad. Growing up, we had a Lab that was afraid of fireworks. We found that out when she hid in a closet and chewed/dug her way through the sheetrock (that was also the last time she was left alone on 4th of July).
My little dog is a little yippy if something is really loud and close, but the other one, who has lived through a lot of Independence Day and Chinese New Year fireworks, just curls his front paws under himself and looks mildly interested.
I agree is sucks for everyone who is not government union. Vegas is jammed to the rafters with government t unions who get the week off starting on Thursday and back to work on the 5th.
All p[aid for by the taxpayers of course.
Oh, and no real plans. It sucks that they decided to have the 4th of July in the middle of the week this year.
Who the hell put the 4th of July in the middle of the week?
RE: Fireworks don't bother GGMM's dogs-
I had a dog (German Shephard/Husky mix) that was afraid of thunder/lightning and especially fireworks. This one time [at Fireworks Camp], the dog, I and my GF at the time were watching fireworks from the tailgate of my truck. The dog jumped out of the bed of the truck and into the back seat of the truck.
The problem was, the truck doors were closed, the windows were half way up, and I didn't even have a back seat in that truck.
Last couple of dogs absolutely love fireworks- they would want to help set them off if they could. Backyard displays would have one of them trying to catch the sparks. Watched the local display a few weeks ago with one of them- she loved it.
She was also kinda intrigued by the airplane circling the display watching from the air. Not sure if she thought the airplane was part of the display, buteshe liked the flashing lights...
We are staying close to home. Mrs. TBRs uncle has his boat in our marina, so we will hang out with him and see what kind of vanilla trouble we can get into.
For fireworks we will walk across the street. The port puts on some pretty impressive fireworks.
How many people are flying a American flag?
I'll be taking the day off. Maybe, since it will finally be warm again, taking my dogs for a long walk along the lake (fireworks don't bother them). Once it gets dark, I'll be able to see lots and lots of fireworks from my deck, so I'll do that.
We will probably play naked pool volleyball and then come back to watch the locals with all the illegal fireworks shoot them off in the dirt parking lot next to the NLV stadium.
With the work load in our business we will work just taking Wednesday off.
