Get It Off Your Chest

Phoenix, AZ, Us

I've edited a dissertation and one and a halfish theses. I've also been a beta reader for writers and done some copyediting. The correlation between spelling and grammar proficiency and either education or intelligence isn't as clear as one might think. Some people just can't spell for shit and the gulf between spoken and written English is pretty wide.

I like smart people with interesting ideas and if they communicate poorly in writing (that would be my ex-husband), there are other and better options for interacting with them.

"I have never seen the spelling of L-O-A-T-H-E."

I'm the opposite, I didn't know there was a way to spell it without the E at the end. Nor did I know the definition. And That Murphy's Law thing is the best.

Meh... doesn't confront me.

If spelling and grammar are their biggest faults they still might be fun at a party.

Ok, thank you for the correction. I have never seen the spelling of L-O-A-T-H-E. I do apologize. Now, I know.

To my point though, it is the ignorance or the I-don't-give-a-fuck, even with the pride of saying 'educated,' that anybody older than a millennial has some if the most atrocious handwriting or typing skills. Yes, I can forgive a typo. But, every day presentation of having failed elementary school English class when that person's only language or first language is English, that's a problem. I can only imagine what their resumé looks like!

Muphry's Law: "If you write anything criticizing editing or proofreading, there will be a fault of some kind in what you have written."

I was hoping no one would mention it, but always get some pleasure from seeing Muphry's Law in action.

@Melvin... Loathe meaning intense dislike has an E at the end.

Loath means reluctant or unwilling as in "I was loath to leave".

Melvin, it's one thing if English is their 2nd or 3rd language, I'm cool with that. But as to the "educated" types who can't write a simple sentence, yeah that's annoying. But keep in mind that the US educational system doesn't bother to teach anything but the bare minimum when it comes to language anymore (there's good supporting arguments for why they do that from both left and right perspectives, so let's all not use it as an excuse to scream politics at each other). Not to mention the eldritch abomination that is modern text-speak.

I cannot stand those that failed elementary school English class. Even worse, I loath those that say on their profile that they are educated or have a college education, but their profile is riddled with grammatical errors. Sometimes you just have to wonder, were these people dropped on their head a few times by their parents?

You know what? Sometimes you just have to get things off your chest.

It doesn't matter if doing so solves or even complicates the problem, you just have to "Get It Off Your Chest."

That is what this post is about, and you may feel free to use this discussion to do the same.

I want to know why people get on a site for swingers, look at profiles and photos, and never fuck!
(OK, I really don't want to know, I just want to complain about them.)

Don't these morons know that there are porn sites all over the web for this purpose?

I think 99% of all profiles on this and other similar sites are set up by men.

I am not sure how many of these profiles are set up without the wife knowing, but I am guessing more than 50%.

(BTW, Fang knows about ours and she also has her own profile on K)

I am also guessing that a majority of the men (as we have already established that it is almost exclusively men on these sites) will never fuck another woman or have their wives fuck another man.

So, what the fuck are they doing looking at everyone else's profiles and pictures?

That is my opinion, I am sticking to it, and I just wanted to get it off my chest...

Have a nice day and play safe out there...
