FF: when we lived in another state, my license plate read, UPANDIN.
I actually got the idea from a training course that my employer put us through on the power of positive thinking... it did help with work challenges and I also applied it to other areas of my life such as my golf game. If I hit the ball into trouble, I would think "I can get up and in from anywhere" instead of thinking "oh shit, I'm totally screwed," and the more positive thoughts (I'm convinced) produce better results. "Up and in" is a common expression in sports... Johnny Miller on the golf broadcast will often say "Oh no he's buried in the bunker... that's going to be a tough up and in from there." Or in basketball, the commentator will say, "Dwayne Wade dishes to LeBron and it's UP AND IN." Or when a pitcher in baseball throws a brush back pitch, it's referred to as throwing him "up and in."
When we moved to PA, I applied for my UPANDIN license plate. I was notified that the plate was rejected and they refunded my application fee. I contacted the DMV and talked to the guy in charge... they have one man in Harrisburg that makes censorship decisions for the entire state (our tax dollars hard at work). Anyway, I told him that I had the license plate in Virginia and I also gave him the aforementioned sports examples and my reasons for requesting it... he still said that he thought it was "too dirty."
His name was Bob. I applied for another license... "BOBSUCKS."
FF #2: It was rejected.
