"It’s not just that we don’t trust Mr Zuckerberg with our private info, it’s also that nothing is truly private on FB."

I had a FB page only because some businesses didn't have a website and only used FB. There was nothing on my page- just my name and home city.

After several years of having that page, the one and only time I contacted someone through FB regarding a post they had, FB cut off the message exchange (the other party asked if I could text them a picture of an item I had that they were interested in), denied me access and demanded I send them a scanned copy of my DL to continue. Nope, not happening.

I tried to access my account several times afterwards but I couldn't get on. Apparently my FB page is now gone/deleted. I guess FB didn't like the fact that my page had 0 information, I never contacted anyone (except that one time), had no FB friends, etc.

Our kid is on one of those fb groups. we are not, and we see way more than we want. Think of fb this way, we are not customers, we are the product. We go online and fb sells us to the advertisers or anyone else with enough money. Privacy is an illusion and it says that in confusing language somewhere in the long boring legal agreement nobody reads when they sign up.

"...If I have one friend on FB, I don’t have just one connection..."

And if law enforcement requests a "six deep" activity on anyone you'll probably be part of the report. ;-)

We joined one FB group, but we joined with a new user name and we limit our activity on the group.
It’s not just that we don’t trust Mr Zuckerberg with our private info, it’s also that nothing is truly private on FB. If I have one friend on FB, I don’t have just one connection, I’m also connected at some level with all of their friends.
And, with the rules of privacy changing every year it’s too hard to make sure my settings are adjusted for maximum privacy.

I was invited to join two lifestyle Facebook groups her in Michigan, and there have been some great posts.
The groups are private, and they have strict rules about DMs and friend requests.
I have a sensitive job, but I feel privacy seems to be protected. What do you think, and are there any other good FB groups out there?
