C&B…believe you hit the nail on the head, there are several on here that, IMHO, fit into that category
Climate change
I feel like I'm witnessing an example of the Dunning-Kruger effect, it's both amusing and depressing.
@CandB
Uhh no.
fda. gov/radiation-emitting-products/resources-you-radiation-emitting-products/microwave-oven-radiation#:~:text=Microwaves%20are%20produced%20inside%20the,heat%20that%20cooks%20the%20food.
Seriously . . . just read.
The metal box of the microwave oven is largely for safety, to shield you from the energy while it's operating.
Gotta love the Google Doctors here...experts on climate change, covid, energy...everything
@CandM
"The microwave oven energy is in the same radio spectrum as weather radar, wifi and (many) cell phone towers"
Again . . . take a physics class.
For it to do anything it has to HIT METAL. It bounces between metal.
In fact, if you want to find out more and then look up dielectric heating. That will teach you the ways of the microwaves :)
WiFi used to be at the 2.4ghz range which was in the range of microwave ovens. If the oven was not truly sealing in everything, sure it could interfere. The solution? Move WiFi up to the 5ghz range.
Someone - Again, I think you are confusing the effects of greenhouse gases and ozone depletion. I don't know why, because I know (or at least believe from other posts of yours) that you're smarter than that.
As I recall, the problem with ozone depletion had more to do with removing the earth's protection from the harmful effects of UVB radiation than it did with climate change.
It seems the older I get, the more I appreciate the wisdom of the Amish.
But, they're often not very nice to their wives, and I'm not down with that. But they seem to have strong communities and better health than most of the people who are eating a lot of plastic and watching TV.
The microwave oven energy is in the same radio spectrum as weather radar, wifi and (many) cell phone towers.
@CandM
If I could post pictures of my head and palm meeting, I would.
Are you !@#!@# serious? You are stating because energy is being used to create microwave energy that is causing the climate to change?
Again . . . are you !@#!@# serious?
Do you not know that the energy to create the microwave requires a METAL container for the waves to bounce around? It also requires a magnetron.
That makes NO sense.
Please, take a physics 101 class or at least stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
That's a bizarre and extreme (not to mention wrong) theory...
What cases weather? Energy. Mostly energy from the sun.
I don't buy that our chemical emissions play a very large role. That's a distraction, mostly. The real answer they don't want us to face.
Consider this. Put a cup of water in a microwave oven. How long does it take to boil? Maybe a minute, and that's with just 700 watts or so of energy.
Now, lets blast the sky nonstop with weather radar where each unit has 750000 watts, and we have hundreds of them. Lets add in TV/Radio stations, lets add in all the high powered cell phone towers, the military and govt RF transmitters etc. Worldwide we've blanketed the planet with intense RF energy. All this heats up the water vapor in the sky. Nobody who's making money from the system wants to seriously address the effects of this RF field on us and our living world. Living in a sea of intense RF is not a natural condition, we've only been exposed to this "reality" in the last 150 years or so. Time will tell how it really plays out.
Is it any wonder we have bizarre and extreme weather? And maybe... bizarre and extreme people?
Someone - Not sure if you're trying to correlate the ozone hole with greenhouse gases. While the latter can affect the former, it is not the primary reason for the ozone depletion, nor was it the main fix for it.
The point I was trying to make is that it never hurts to try to make things better for our successors. What was yours? As far as I can tell, it was that trying to use the current technology to reduce greenhouse gases is "liberal fantasy", and Trump is great. Did I nail it? ;-)
Current - It's not always all bad. As mentioned, the hole in the ozone layer was mostly and quietly fixed in the background. Hoping that as more people implement renewable energy that it will be a step in the right direction. Some amount of that (in the relative short term) may have to do with how well all of the solar panels being built can be recycled.
There could be other technologies that come along in the meantime too. Perhaps someone will crack the nut on more energy efficient and environmentally friendly ways to extract/produce hydrogen. The main technology focus has been on solar lately and batteries in particular it seems, but if hydrogen fuel becomes a thing, there'd be a lot less need for solar and we'd be tapping into the largest fuel source in the known universe.
It's very much a generational debt issue. That's the most troubling part for me. Just about exactly like the national debt and budget. Easy for us to ignore - most of the time. Just the occasional massive wildfire, hurricane, flood or thousand year drought to deal with. It's the long unending slow declne that is the real issue
@current you say I don't think climate change will be as easy to address....Not so..only the vocal uneducated on the subject..much like all the High Scholl Grad Covid experts...I think we are beyond the point of where it matters for us..but our children and our grand children will look back and say WTF was wronf with these idiots
Would love to see the expression on their, or if they're young enough, their parents faces when they get the cleaning bill for that ;-)
People suck
Speaking of worse, two - what's a polite synonym for obnoxious little cunts? - threw two cans of tomato soup on Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting at the Ntional Gallery in London and then had their shit bag friends video the thing for upload to twitter. Or would that be twatter?
Fucking obnoxious self-absorbed little assholes!
I don't think climate change will be as easy to address. Though I admit I did not see the ozone hole turn around. In the case of climate change all the revisions and new discoveries seem to be negative. For example, the effect of methane released by melting of permafrost in the Northern hemisphere. I don't think anyone saw that coming. Another is the effect of meltwater on sea ice versus salt water. Yet another is un-anchoring of antarctic glaciers.
I'm starting to see climate scientists go out of their way to hedge against the increasing evidence that we are beyond the tipping point. Presumably because the expect, correctly in my view, that people will give up and ignore the fact that, while it may not get better, it can certainly get worse.
Just seen it takes 6 Hours to put an EV car battery explosion out . They must cool the batteries an ICE car 1
hour ….Tesla stocks plummeting today . I still wonder about the batteries in the houses. ..
In the aftermath of the hurricane in Florida EV cars are catching fire . 10 in one county Fire departments have issued a bulletin to avoid parking EV cars in or near homes . I wonder if the batteries in these flooded homes will be catching fire . Are they the. Same lithium batteries ?
Not all that long ago, the hole in the ozone layer was a big deal. Some changes were implemented and it is well on it's way to repairing itself.
To my way of thinking, solar power is the next thing that helps us move in a more environmentally friendly direction. The EV cars might be a tougher sell for some, but it does seem that the majority of people would benefit from switching to solar power, and/or wind if that works for them. There will obviously be cases and circumstances where that's not so,
Perhaps at the heart of the matter is that, despite the evidence, some people still do not believe we have a problem. It's hard to get people to fix something that they don't think is broken, The complexity of the problem doesn't help. There are people with PhDs (meaning they have proven they are capable of higher level learning) that don't fully grasp the details. It is also easy to second guess people way smarter as to why we don't have a problem. Most people see knowledge as power. Unfortunately, some feel that power is always being used to abuse rather than help people in general.
Again, it is not required that anyone do anything. As of now, I can still heat my house with coal if I want, but when the expense of doing that vs solar is mostly a wash and you have the extra benefit of being more environmentally friendly, I can see people making the move. As usual, others will call them "sheep" and there will no doubt be more conspiracy theories about being controlled. Perhaps even theories as to how/why solar is killing us all.
While they too can be a bit extreme, this is one case where you score one for the preppers. Most (if not all) of them are installing off-grid solar. Just not for the same reasons as the average person switching to solar. Maybe we can have the preppers convince the conspiracy theorists. A lot of them speak the same language.. (tongue---------->cheek)
@TM LOL .
any libtard complaining about global warming should jump off earth...esp. from Cal. and NY..
