I started with AirTouch in 1995 or so.

They were bought out by Verizon. So I have been with Verizon for almost 30 years.

" One of the main reasons for the historic run up in prices in the twenty teens."

Eh. A lot of that was a rebound from the mortgage crisis, albeit fueled by favorable interest rates.

One impact of higher interest rates has been a larger than usual supply of housing for sale. Ideally, there would be a near equal ratio of supply and demand, but since we're far behind in creating sufficient housing of varied types, the housing market generally hasn't had a breather until recently.

The typical response of the housing market is for prices to increase when mortgage rates drop. One of the main reasons for the historic run up in prices in the twenty teens. The same thing happens in commercial real estate but that's based on market consensus as to what rates of return should be. these move up and down to closely reflect interest rates but it takes time for consensus to develop and the market to adjust, compared to residential.

I have Verizon. Been happy with it for more than 20 years.

Anybody with Verizon as their cell phone?

I just signed up for their promo with the NFL + Premium and Netflix Premium.

Pay $100 for the NFL subscription and get one free year of Netflix. Thats about $300 for a yr of Netflix Premium.

I was just about to sign up for the NFL package. I'll tuck away that $300 into the garage door project account.

It's actually a big deal.

That is a significant difference in a mortgage payment at 5.5% or 6%.

I bet the next two quarters show a jump in home sales.

Apropos of nothing, I do not consider the wild fluctuations of the stock markets to be newsworthy, one way or another. This particular fluctuation, for what it's worth, makes no sense at all, given the Fed's action this week but is historically common.

Treasury curve inversion update.

The last of the two closely watched Treasury not curve inversions de-inverted (normalised) this past week.

The rates to watch are the Ten Year/ Five and Ten Year /Two Year rate ratios. Both these "curves" inverted by July of 2022 and stayed there. The Ten Year/ Five Year Curve has been flat to slightly de-inverted most of the year. The Ten Year/ Two Year curve has remained inverted, generally in the 30-40 basis point range. It narrowed to pretty much flat by the end of August. By September 4th, it de-inverted and has remained there since, reaching a 14 basis points spread last night.

If you're interested, you can google what these inflection points generally mean. I'm not going there for fear of fueling the idiotic Presidential election bent that this thread has taken.

Feel free to calendar this important event and ping me for my thoughts the second week in November.

Stocks jumped Thursday as investors cheered the Federal Reserve’s eye-popping half-point interest rate cut.

The Dow closed 522 points, or 1.3%, higher, reaching a new record after passing the 42,000 level for the first time. The S&P 500 rose 1.7%, topping 5,700 for the first time and also closing at a fresh high. The Nasdaq Composite added 2.5%.

"“She lied again about growing up middle class , her father was a real professor and her mother was a scientist"

That's a direct copy-paste I saw elsewhere. Can't remember if it was Trump.

But in any case - whomever repeated it obviously knows nothing about what college professors or scientists earn.

My last year working as a scientist was 2010, but my salary at the time - as a senior research scientist - was $82,000. And that was for a huge company (BASF). Good money, sure, but middle class all the way.

I actually left that career for my current one because I make more money as a business owner, but even today we are what would be best described as upper middle.

You're just another Goober who wants to make everything political. Look how you entered the room with disparaging remarks about Harris.

Tow is to pull. Toes are digits on the foot.

Your desperate attempt to degrade list potency.

The title of this thread is "All" things economic. Not just certain aspects of it. Since political ideology has effect on immigration.foreign trade and an endless list of other things with economic impact It would be hard to completely keep politics out of this thread.

Land O Lakes, FL, Us

I have my own strongly held political opinion which I'm sure most here do as well. Can we keep those in the politics forum though and not in every fucking thread topic please. There is a dedicated forum for you to battle to the death if that is your internet kink.

“She lied again about growing up middle class , her father was a real professor and her mother was a scientist”

So, they were lower middle class?

Unless momma won a Nobel prize, they almost certainly weren’t rich

Richards, TX

She lied again about growing up middle class , her father was a real professor and her mother was a scientist . I fact checked the liar. …..Politics are a blood sport and using Camel Toe seems wrong , but if you are going to be in politics be prepared for everything .

It may have been an economic question, but your post sounds political.

Participants in here would be pissed if this thread gets moved to Politics. Many of them refuse to dive into that cesspool.

How would you like it if someone called your wife Camel Toe?
