Payed or free? Does it actually make a differences.

A paid membership indicates a higher degree of commitmentand tends to filter out the lurkers amd pic collectors. There is nothing wrong with being a free member if someone is new and learning.

Ok, that being said, I wholly support the paid membership. Keep in mind if you have a free account, or allow free accounts to see your profile, any pics you have up are totally public.. anyone on the internet can find them. Not being "out" in my daily life, privacy is my #1 concern. I could lose my job, or much more if I were discovered to be living in this lifestyle - The owners of my company are very religious. My friends would never understand. It's a lot to lose.

While I don't have any pics up, I think I may actually have freebs allowed to see me, but when I post pics, that will end.

I've also found that freebs are 1000% more likely to flake after showing interest, or pull no-shows. I don't have time for that nonsense. But at the same time, I've found two notable people here who were free accounts that turned out to be great relationships while they lasted. That's a whole other topic ha.

I disagree that CL is the place to go to swing- around here, it's considered to be the lowest of the low, as in: go there if you want a disease or a crackwhore.

There's a lot of clubs in my area, so SLS is all over the place and it seems very active to me. I've been to some clubs and private parties, and I can say, everyone seemed pretty well dressed, clean, respectful, professional. I've never met anyone from/on CL, but I can only imagine...ew, no thanks.

SLS is not really a swingers site anymore. The swingers all went to Craigslist. We posted on hot date for this ?Friday with no responses and talked to other couples who have never gotten a response from hit dates.
Paid or not does not matter anymore

We have had limited success with free members, both SM and couples. For the most part, we prefer paid members because we feel they are willing to put something into making a connection work. Some free members just seem to be hunting with scatter shot and will take whatever comes along which means they will leave you hanging if something better in their eyes comes along

The former “free”posters of CL will migrate to other “free” online pastures such as SLS.

Unless we are actively “hunting” for a few good men for Mrs U’s enjoyment we keep the free member block on.

I had free members blocked for a while and I don’t know why I took the block off but now may be a good time to activate it again. Most of the mails we have been getting as of late though has come from Paid and Lifetime. Some Paid still scream cheater for some reason.

I hear you, Fokker.

The free members are the only group who we continue to block, but it's not for the reasons of aggravation that we do it.

As far as tons of email, I've changed my thoughts on that one and, partly due to some posts you made, I changed my MO to just create a simple quick reply for all the non-legit emails. It's just as easy to hit that button as any other, right?

Nevertheless, by blocking free profiles from viewing us, it reduces the potential (maybe only a little) that a close relative might happen across our profile in an unrelated hunting expedition.

No guarentee, but since the free profiles would hold no interest for us anyway...it's a little help.

His Lordship is too kind with his kindness.

I will say that I do appreciate the fact that these ‘doods’ stay with the free membership as it helps to weed them out.

I would like to harken back almost two years ago when the Fokkers first decided to set roots down here in SLS. I knew that as long as we were living in the free tent, it would be hard to be taken seriously. Moving to the Paid cabin gave us some legitness, but it was once we got our lifetime homestead that we truly felt like a member of the community.
It’s just so hard to now fend off the hordes of the free tents of the gentlemen. I wish the problem was the herds of exotic unicorns moving through the old farm. Sigh...

My apologies, sir Fokk. ;^D

Lord Tramp, I did bring up the whole ‘not letting the wife know’ thing later I’m in my post. I may not be a Genius Fokker, but I’m not a dumb Fokker either. ;)

"I never understood the not wanting to put it on a credit card."

Of course you do. The appearance of a charge from here on a man's card statement would be the last thing that he wants if he's sneaking out here. That's the precise reason why so many use the free member status as the first step of the vetting process. It immediately cuts out a large number of the cheating spouses.

Regardless of what you think relating to the ethics/morality of that issue, no one can deny that messing around with cheating partners adds an infinite array of drama to the whole affair.

Certainly there are other reasons for not having even a one month paid subscription, but I'll wager that the main reason will be that the user can't afford for that information to show up on their statement.

I never understood the not wanting to put it on a credit card. Are you going to commit some crime and you know they will do a forensic exam of your banking statements? Or are you afraid your wife is going to find out about it? Technically speaking if you’re in the LS your wife would know about it anyway so what’s the big deal with it being in your statement.

IMHO . . . for anyone the access difference between free and paid is worth it. For SM the credibility is invaluable (well, maybe just valuable we are still the lowest on the food chain, lol)

Without a question, go with a paid membership. Not just for the emailing and pic benefits, but as listed earlier, to be taken seriously. Speaking from a couples standpoint, we get a silly amount of single guys that want to hook up with the wife. We look at unpaids as fly-by-nights, kids, and fakes. I'm sure this doesn't apply to EVERY unpaid member, but we narrow the field this way anyway.

I've found that it's almost impossible to be taken seriously without a paid account. I don't even pay much attention to the free ones myself.

I totally understand not wanting to put this on your credit card but it's really easy to buy a prepaid card at almost any store and use that to pay for your membership.

“there are more advantages to paid members, like participating in the forums”

Best answer! Woohoo!

:-D

Moving along........

Welcome to the forums, Velcom.

Using very little common sense, I know you aren’t talking about putting paid vs free air in your tires, government cheese vs Kraft, toll roads vs highways, sex or even advice, yet paid advice right now would seem beneficially worthy.

Yes, there are several differences. Committal to being serious or not would be opined, yet we have had plenty of fun times with free members as opposed to paid members, some just use the site for event listings. A free member isn’t supposed to be able to post a hot date, yet seems they can. They also cannot view a paid or free members private pictures or see them attached in emails. Emails are limited to 5 daily. They cannot approve profiles nor pictures that are submitted and are unable to post a question on the forums to be ridiculed daily with asshattery or lead down a frothy path down political disparities.

We do not care. Some people can not have a swinger site on their credit card.

If you're talking about paid vs. free SLS memberships, free is usually an automatic thanks but no thanks.

do you mean paid or free sls members? paid members seem to be a little more serious about swinging than free members. some people block free members. also, there are more advantages to paid members, like participating in the forums, no limits on emails per day and being able to view pictures.
