"Drama sells, happy endings don’t result in happy ratings."

I remember one of those afternoon dating shows couple decades ago... like "love connection" but way more train wrecks. Had pop-ups making fun of the people on the dates and such. They seemed to hook people up that they knew would be disaster.

One of them, the couple actually got along, and actually discussed their different opinions on things in constructive and supportive ways and actually liked each other. The pop-up was "We're actually showing wholesome television. Heads will roll." It was a break in the 4th wall that showed that the best ratings came from the worst dates.

Since sex sells, I'm kind of surprised there aren't more shows about swinging. I think I remember the TLC show and it was far enough back where we weren't in the LS, so you're really not sure what to think. As mentioned, drama sells too so I can see where someone producing such a show would feel a desire to put a "Jerry Springer" sort of slant on it.

This has been pretty interesting! Thanks for all your comments. Im sure this thread will be useful to others!!!
I just wish some or most had a happy end where everyone lives happily and swing is not a threatening issue in a marriage.
Blessings to all!!!

Swingtown was fun. Satin shirts, leisure suits, go go boots.

That TLC show was a train wreck. From what we were reading, it was doomed before it started. We thought it would more likely turn people off to swinging.

Playboy's swing was good. Constructive discussion with steamy sex. We jus wish some of those couples weren't so young.

Two other entries. A Good Old Fashioned Orgy and How To Plan An Orgy In A Small Town. Neither are really about swinging per se, but they revolve around some of the same issues.

AGOFO is more about one guy in a group of 30-something friends who finally has to grow up. It's a pretty funny flick.

HTPAOIAST tries to be a comedy, but I found it to be entirely too mean-spirited to be funny. Basically, all of the characters are ragingly neurotic assholes. I mainly watched it because it had Jewel Staite, and I kind of crushed on her as Kaylee in Firefly.

Oh yes, when we bring up the phone call after a few messages, pic openings & mutual interest is expressed in meeting with a "Couples" profile, suddenly it's crickets. usually a single guy posing as a couple or married guy who's wife has no idea what he's doing or has said no to the idea of swinging.

Also makes sure she is real too... which I saw you point out in your profile.

Yup, all the indications that things weren't likely to go well, One reasons we insist on speaking with both members of a new couple interested in meeting is to get a sense that the female half (usually the case) is equally on board & not having her arm twisted by the husband/boyfriend,

At the time we had just started talking about getting into the LS, it is now in retrospective that we see the signs.

Bingo!!

The lead up to the date had the female showing signs of anxiety and nervousness. Even during the date she was exhibiting behaviors that showed she wasn’t on the same page.

Heard about that show on TLC. It must have shocked a lot of Vanilla's & couples who may have been curious. What you described in the second episode likely showed a couple that wasn't on the same page where one had insecurity or jealousy issues or was being coaxed into something they weren't ready for.

TLC had a short lived series, Neighbors With Benefits, and I mean short lives. Only 2 of the 8 episodes aired. It was a reality show about a neighborhood (suburb) in Ohio where they found a large amount of swingers. They looked to all be friends of this one couple and they were at different points in the LS.
The second episode has a cringe worthy moment on the ride home after a couples first play date with a couple. They had only played soft, but the female half was incredibly visibly shaken.
TLC was forced to pull ig and shelf the season after it received countless complaints and threats from the advertisers about pulling ads because people were threatening to protest.

It was a real shame they did it. It wasn’t too bad and liking back there was some good tidbits to be gleaned from the episodes they did show. We were boobs just starting out when this aired and it was answering questions. What it also did was it didn’t sugar coat things. They did discuss the ugly along with the good.

The word is they have no plans to ever release it even to their streaming service.

Swing on Playboy TV is a great show. Like all "reality" tv it is better described as loosely scripted. I think there's three or four seasons out there. You can find them on xhamster and pornhub if you're lucky. Each episode features a new couple being brought in to the house with the seasoned veterans. Some couples embrace it more than others.

Yes, good show. But, just as soon as the vanilla Millers made the leap at a key party, they cancel the series.

Wish Netflix or Amazon Prime would pick it up for a reboot.

Oh, and Molly Parker, as Susan was so Hot.

"Palm Swings" (2017) was a good one; it had Tia Carrere and Diane Farr. A young married couple move to Palm Springs and venture into the lifestyle when they discover their neighbors are swingers. They touch on the typical issues but the sex scenes are pretty hot.

There was a show on Friday nights in 2007 or 2008 about swinging in the 70's. Think it was called "Swingtown" Lasted 1 season.

Zombieland Rule #18: Limber Up

Of course, for my sex partners, I've been known to suggest Rule # 32: Enjoy The Little Things. ;)

We've learned a thing or two from the sling commercials! We now know to stretch first and haven't pulled a hammy since!

Sex Monster was a good one.

Guy begs his wife for a FFM threesome and she finally gives in. It turns out she liked it and she wants more. Eventually it is more than he can handle so she starts hooking up without him, A LOT... Moral of the story. Be careful what you wish for.

My favorite line from the movie, "She was eating my pussy like GAH GAH GAH GAH!!!"

It was on Netflix years ago.
