Is one enough?

Incredible community... still having fun!
Burning question of the day: If I've messaged a profile but not heard a reply, is it safe to assume that they've read it and are not interested? I've sent a second message in the past to have it answered... almost as if they'd missed the first one. As a single male, I don't want to spam peoples' inboxes.
