Gated Communities and house parties

A gate wouldn’t deter us, however, generally speaking those type of communities generally have a bit more appeal and I think it would be a great setting for a small party. Of course, that is if your HOA doesn’t find out :)

The only way a gate would stop us is if the gate wouldn't open.

The short answer is No, it wouldn't deter us

Gate would not be an issue.... just give people the code. They are invited guests.

For a gate with a guard... we have been to a few where you the guards know there is a party and you just have to know where you are going. They don't required a specific list of names. "Yes... I'm here for the Smith Family 2nd Friday School Girl Birthday Cocktail Hour" works well.

wouldn’t even give it a second thought unless the gate guard was part of the “Spanish Inquisition”...

(and no one EXPECTS the Spanish Inquisition).

A gate would not deter us, even if there is a live guard.

The fact that most gated communities we have been in "monitors" visitors more than other types of communities would make us think twice about going to one for a lifestyle party. BTW we are not talking a gate guard or security cameras on the gate but the fact that usually there is some neighbor(s) with their nose on the window and eyes on any strangers. Seriously isn't the gate supposed to keep the riff raff out? BTW we are not saying this is why anyone moves to a gated community....what am i saying? It's the reason I want the 8 property owners on our own private road to put one up LOL. Honestly for us at least we feel it would perhaps draw unwanted attention to our coming and going as well as what we were doing. Oh and that is before the homeowner deals with the HOA and covenants. Of course the same neighbor who has their nose pressed on the window just called the police for noise complaints or simply because there are too many cars parked on the street in the private gated community. Not that that does not happen in non gated communities but we just feel it would happen more in a gated one.

The gate is less the issue than the covenants of the gated community. They are worth fishing out and reading. At the very least, you should be able to identify each guest (guest list) and make sure that access is controlled. Noise and public (visible) behaviors by your guests will be your responsibility, and the covenants may not only forbid certain things but also have legal remedies for violations. There may also be additional security requirements in the covenants.

We've been to a couple small house parties in gated communities. Don't think it should make people shy away. The gate wasn't manned & we were given a code number to punch in. If it was a manned gate, guests may want to consider wearing less revealing clothing & changing once inside.

We threw some great parties at our old house and finally are getting our new home set. We now live in a gated community, meaning our guests have to be called in to the gate. Question for the crowd, especially those in our area, will the gate stop you from coming to a house party?
