FEREEEEEEEE POSTING ????

Fargo, ND, Us

Hi All, I'm Paula and single. Lol

As a new paid member of less than 7 days I want to say I agree with the initial rant.

I'd signed up as a free member and kept getting messages which I couldn't view. I do wish there had been a trial period to be sure I wanted to invest the monthly amount into a site that may or may not have good user interface and active members.

It is frustrating as a free member to have limited access and teasers. The free posting shouldn't be allowed.

Just my 2cents.

Since I block free members, they do not show up on my Who Viewed Me section, but they do still show up in my Newest and Random Matches section of my Home page.

GGMM- I'm seeing free members with nude profile pictures on the sites home screen.

"I believe that will also stop them from showing on the Newest Matches list."

Nope. I had to check, because I rarely look at the SLS home page, but there are free members on mine and I've had them blocked for years.

Where on the site is it that free members are bothering you? You can filter them out on the main search page and Who's On listing. You can hide your profile from free members so that they cannot view it and then no free members should show on your Who Viewed Me page. I believe that will also stop them from showing on the Newest Matches list.

"I am perceived as cheap..."

I'm frugal, there's a difference.

I am perceived as cheap, but I actually don't mind paying for things. I just like to feel like I'm getting my $$$ worth. I felt I was when we signed up for SLS over 10 years ago after a couple month trial period.

"Make an option for the FREE people to pay something like a limited trial membership with the option to buy full membership and apply their deposit to the membership. "

A 30 day paid membership is available but if you upgrade to an unlimited (lifetime)membership when that expires, the cost isn't credited. Pretty sure the site won't change that.

And yes Mayhem, a Free Member can't read any messages. If you had a paid membership and had been messaging with people, you can't read the messages you had opened and read as a paid member when your paid membership reverts to a Free Membership.

But... I've seen outside contact information (and messages addressed to specific profiles) placed by Free Members up for over 24 hours before the site removes them.

You can send a message to free members, but all they can see is that they have a new message. I believe that they cannot even read it, and I know that they definitely can't respond to it.

The problem for SLS is that, if they could read it, a paid member could send a free member a message with an outside email address in it. I believe that the old email system and the one currently in use for groups/party notifications was better set-up to limit the # of emails per day. SLS took that away from paid members a few years ago because they no longer want to support it for a larger audience apparently.

I'm sure they could find a way to limit the current messaging system as well, but that is time/money doing coding that they aren't interested in doing. If I had to make a decision to sign up or not based on what I could currently see as a free member, I'd likely not be a paid member today.

At least make it where paid members can contact free members.

If you go to Tools > Privacy Features, you can block free members. I believe that will keep you from seeing them in the forums and elsewhere.

I wound up doing this because it makes no sense to enable communication with someone you cannot communicate with. If they do sign up as paid members, they will no longer be free members and that Block won't apply. As far as I can tell, there is no downside to blocking free members.

That ain't gonna happen.

AGAIN... why are free postings allowed and how did they get approved ? They do nothing but clutter up the site, making it more difficult to contact serious people. We waste our time combing through the free people only to find we can not communicate with them, nor they with us. The site seems to be stagnant in its progress moving into the future. and just humming along. This had been our favorite site all along but we would like to see some serious upgrading. Make an option for the FREE people to pay something like a limited trial membership with the option to buy full membership and apply their deposit to the membership. NO MORE FREEBIES !!!
