How much weight loss is normal?

"We are epidemiologists and make a living studying everything that increases your risk of death"

I really dont care who you think you are or are pretending to be today. I have asked nicely to remove yourself from MY post.

This is the exact reason we were hesitant to post anything here, to begin with, however, we really do want to hear from real people with real experiences.

We are epidemiologists and make a living studying everything that increases your risk of death. Focusing on the food you put into your mouth.

The hard science was done from 1940 to 1980 with the study of 7,500 healthy people over that time. Everything they put into their mouths or lungs where studied including the long term effects. This study is known as the Framingham Study.

It is this study that all the measurements that your doctor uses when he take your blood pressure blood and urine comes from. what is normal or what is not normal. All the meds you take that are keeping you alive are based upon this study.

Currently the science is being done to make those numbers of where normal is and where abnormal starts much more accurate with the long term study of 10 million people. My wife is one of the epidemiologists on this project. The number will soon be in your doctors office of what is normal by age and sex.

What has been proven since the 1950's is that a high fat diet will make you FAT and OBESE and sick. What has been proven since the 1950's is that a diet high in veges and fruit with some meat and complex carps is very healthy for you and what the people who live to be a hundred eat. And those people exercise. Notice that none of those old timers are FAT or OBESE.

The Clinton Crime Family and the TV want you as sick as possible so they can take over all of medicine in America and rule us all like the kings of old.

I was refraining from responding directly, however, this needs to be addressed.

NCal, please remove yourself from my discussion as you have nothing of value to post. If I wanted to read your political rants I could look anywhere on the forums as you are all over the place spewing the same USELESS information.

I really miss the Louise's Fat Free potato chips. They tasted better then fried chips and where healthy for you. no fat added of any kind, you could eat the whole bag.

There where so many foods that where healthy to eat. Fat free or very low fat. lots of vege content. Then Hjilarycare failed and everything that was healthy to eat disappeared and high fat everything took their place. my god you can buy pure coconut fat in the stores now.

Within a few years of the failure of Hilarycare everyone because fat and then obese and sick so very sick.

What the Clinton's and the media did to the America people after Hilarycare failed in the mid 90's. The media which is the Democratic Party, starting with Oprah when from the established science on what is healthy to eat, to pushing a high fat high meat diet with no veges.

The Clintons and the media did this on purpose, to get all Americans so fat and sick that they could not afford the meds that are keeping them alive. Now people are so fat and sick they will vote for any criminal or Communist that runs for office just because they promise free healthcare.

Before the Clinton Crime Family it was very rare to find an obese American. Very few people where even over weight by more then a few pounds.

Look what these criminals have done to America. Today its hard to find anyone who is not fat.

AnJ and Jersey Girl, thank you. We have changed our lifestyle, it took us a little time to find what would work for us. While I know we can do more, we are steadily loosing at least a pound a week, some weeks as much as 4. We know it will take time, it is just nice hearing from real people who have done it.

Its so simple yet its work. You don't need fitbit or any of that stuff, its just a distraction. Simple eat a high vegetable and fruit diet with no added fat of any kind. Stop eating high fat fried foods, take the skin off of the chicken and trim all the fat off of the meat you eat.

BBQ or stir fry meat. AND exercise. To lose weight 60% veges and fruit. 20% complex carbs 20% meat or fish all fat removed.

We live like this and have the health of a teenager. We can dance for hours and do so several time a week. I spearfish and hunt in the water for three hours. I eat like a pig, but its huge green salads with only veges and fat free dressing.

Turn off the TV everything about what to eat is paid for by the meat and dairy industry. The media is a all corrupt bought and paid for corrupt thing.

We're with jerseygirl... don't rush it. That's a quick ticket back up to where you are today.

To lose weight and keep it off you really need to change your lifestyle for good.

J lost 35lbs in the last 18 months and has been at 165 for the last 6 months just eating better. Nothing overly processed, minimal carbs - bread and pasta are rare for him to eat now.

You can do it!

Many years ago, I lost 80 lbs or so on weight watchers. Eat less, eat fresh and non processed, move more. 4 lbs the first week the 2lbs a week is a good goal. It took a while to put the weight on....let it take a while for it to come off. Learn to live differently....instead of being on a diet.
That's the way to be safe and keep it off!
I was 237. I'm 135 now. If I can do it....you can. ????

NJNY, thank you. We have made this a new life choice. It was a real wake up call for us when Tammy had to have gallbladder surgery and we had to take a look at how and what we have been eating. I must admit our biggest losses have happened since her surgery, and we both do feel alot better, and have more energy. We do understand that there will be times with little to no losses. I have developed a love/hate relationship with our scale (love it when it shows losses, hate it when it dont). We feel at our age we should still be able to get back what we once had, and be much healthier and active for our grandchildren. We have been tracking both on paper and using the my fitness pal app. We both wear fit-bits now as well. We are hoping to be at least 30 pounds lighter if not more by the new year.

Again thank you, it is a difficult change and hearing what others have done helps us.

You need to exercise. Start talking walks going slow for short distances and slowly increase the distance and pace at what you walk at.

diet alone with not get you where you want to be.

Over the past several months my wife and I have been working on our nutrition, not just how we eat, but what we eat and how often. While we have not added as much exercise I would like we are both loosing weight. Our weight loss however is not very consistent. While I have lost close to 40 pounds in the last 7 months, my wife has lost about 25. During this time we have both had medical issues that landed us in the hospital, which I am sure has slowed our progress. Now we are both back to our normal routines and curious about how much weight loss we should expect in an average month. We started this new journey back in April when I went to the Dr for a physical and tipped the scales at over 350# ( for most of my adult life I have been 240#) I now weigh in on average between 285 and 295# (for some reason I have a 10 pound fluctuation throughout most weeks). We have always been told that 2 pounds a week is good, but with where we are and where we really want to be we are looking to step up the efforts and try for 3 or 4 per week. I still have a little more than 50# to loose and my wife would like to loose another 40 or 50 # as well. We are both active, love outdoor activities, and have adopted a modified Keto diet (since wife has had gallbladder surgery). Ideally I would love to get down under 230, and she would love to be down around 150, as this is when we felt the best, and looked good as well. We count calories, watch the fat intake, have reduced our carb intake significantly, but just seem to be missing something as we have had weeks with little to no results.
