Nearly all "diets" have their positives and negatives. In the case of the Carnivore diet, one possible side effect to pay attention to is the lack of enough dietary fiber will cause some people to become 'backed up' and/or, when trying to go #2, feel like they are giving birth to cinder blocks. A dietary fiber supplement and plenty of water can help if that occurs somewhere down the line.
Carnivore diet
RonKathy I will message you when the month is up. The only knowledge I have on it now is listening to a few different doctors that Rogan has had on. Dr. Rhonda Patrick is probably my favorite. But I basically saw myself creeping up on boredom with my keto/low carb. And it was just the veggies, which is weird because I love them. Anyway I did not get a check up prior and I wish I would have. My focus was wanting to see if my energy level stayed consistent throughout the day, which I have heard is a benefit. A happy benefit that I did not know is I haven’t touched candy or snacks in the five days that I’ve been eating this way. I keep chocolate on my counter and haven’t so much as given them a second thought. I’m a huge salt fan and keep olives in the fridge for emergencies. I haven’t touched them. And I fear Cheetos will go bankrupt without my money.
Please let us know how it goes.. I have done South Beach Atkins years ago when if first came out , lost a lot of weight. I am now doing Dr Axe Keto, different from others and seem to enjoy it and feel better.
My concern is what would your cholesterol levels and complete blood work up be..
My wife and I do a lot of weights, sporting activities, and love to eat and drink foods from all over the places we travel including alcohol. It has to be good food and not greasy junk or fried.. so things like a loaf of fresh hot bread, olive oil , and all the food in NOLA I can devour.. and presto 5 lbs later!
I do believe the biggest benefit is to those with severe conditions. But for everyone else I’ve heard of improved energy levels that are more consistent.
It’s been a welcome change to my low carb meals. For some reason I was just getting tired of the vegetables.
It will be interesting to see the results after my month is up.
I see no reason to do that. It's perfectly feasible to be very low carb while eating vegetables - even lots of vegetables - although the exact choice of vegetables matters, of course. There is far more leeway on vegetable choices if you do even moderate amounts of exercise.
I've had times where I've gone for several weeks on a very low carb diet with plenty of vegetables and I've enjoyed it immensely. Meat alone would become boring to me quickly. I grew up hating vegetables because my parents sucked at preparing them, but have come to love many of them.
Did it for about 3 weeks on a whim. Didn't feel any better/worse etc, but its too hard to maintain easily while traveling so gave up. I think its not really a great thing unless you are in need of a very strict elimination diet.
Decided to do a month of just meat. I got interested after hearing several people talk about it on the Joe Rogan Podcast. I’ve been going the keto route for the last two years and really like it. Anyone ever tried the carnivore diet longer than a couple of weeks?
