Honestly, I don't know diddly about the bi side of things, but it would seem to me that if you had made that connection the best thing to do is to just go ahead and ask the gentleman, respectfully of course. In today's day and age, the size of the lounge really shouldn't matter, and it isn't any of the bartender's business. Besides, bartenders have seen EVERYTHING, and for the most part they really don't give a shit what their customers do, as long as it doesn't become a problem for the bartender.
Besides, maybe the bartender wouldn't leave you alone because HE was interested in you. Something to consider.
