We have had good success at meeting couples while hiking Skyline Drive. We usually get a room on the Drive, and go on a short hike and have a picnic. We have one of those fancy picnic packs with wine glasses, place settings, small table, and flatware, and the kit holds 4 bottles of wine, and a couple blankets. We bring cheese, fruit, nuts, and croissants and cracker, and wine of course. We frequently attract other hikers, we always make sure there is plenty to share, and sometimes one thing leads to another.

Have been trying to pull some variation of this off for a a few years but other couples were too nervous to try it. The original idea was to just “bump into” another couple while out to eat and they would be flirting very aggressively until my wife figured out what was going on.
Ended up doing it as an Airbnb “private room” while traveling at another LS couples home.
When my wife figured it out she was so turned on it was crazy.
And as a bonus we made some new friends.
