Gthang: We had a similar experience getting started. We took a long time to find our groove and like-minded people. I think three things are going on here.

Thing 1 - Many people are in your same shoes, dipping the toes, so to speak. This means many do not know what they want, or have some trepidation, or aren't really sure they want to do full bore. There are also a lot of lookie-loos on the lifestyles websites. They are seeking photos and titillation, not lifestyle experiences or friendships. Your job is to weed through the nonsense.

Thing 2 - You have to find your local or regional group that thinks like you and acts like you, and the group to which you are attracted. This is tougher than it seems, as you're dealing with both of your wants and desires and proclivities. Give it some time. There are hard partying groups, outdoorsy groups, quiet laid-back groups, and everything in between. Find your jam and your people!

Thing 3 - We consulted the SLS Brain Trust, including some of the people on this forum page, who gave us excellent advice on our profile. We changed things and immediately got more "traffic." We recommend you post in "better profiles" and similar pages here and see what the smart ones say. They helped us immensely.

With all this said, SLS has been more effective for us in our home area and on travel. So keep plugging away! It works.

It's nothing new...it just seems that there is A Lot more of it....hopefully you can meet and develop a steady party/friendship relationship with a couple or two or?

The op here reminded us of our time here but yeah its a bit toxic and cliqish here, I think our favorite is reading on someone's or a couples profile is " if we don't message back, take that as we're not interested " along with " if we message you, let us know if your not interested " or something like that.

We got here 08-09 I believe, Jada at the time we started met single males as we were a hotwifing couple at the time. Later we did meet a single woman as well, became good friends with too. Couples, as much as we looked between low responses or flaking, ghosting or just not interested ( which we appreciated, because we weren't ignored and we can move on) didn't happen here, we actually met couples off the fetlife site.
