Swinger & Lifestyle Glossary

Lifestyle event listings, host pages, and community discussions use vocabulary that isn’t obvious from outside the swinger community. This glossary defines 52of the most common terms in plain language so newcomers can read an event listing and know what to expect, what’s on offer, and what isn’t. Definitions are intentionally clinical and non-judgmental.

Each term has a permalink — append #term-slug to share or bookmark a single definition.

A relationship in which partners have agreed they may have sexual or romantic involvement with others. Differs from polyamory, which centers on multiple loving relationships rather than primarily sexual ones.

Separate-Room Swap
Partner exchange in which couples move to different rooms. Less common at first; usually attempted only after couples have experience with same-room play and explicit agreement.
